i try to stay at Arcadia every time I am in town….this trip, it was not available and I am staying at a friends house at Prive behind the American Embassy.
And while this is a delightful place with the luck of having Neil’s Bakery and Tavern right next door, it is a bit of a walk to and from Bumrungrad.
There are a number of hotels to stay close to Bumrungrad — Ad Lib, Best Western, Oasis Inn and of course, the Marriott Sukhumvit — but by far my favorite is Arcadia Suites. I could stay in the aforementioned hotels, but because I am normally here on extended stays, up to a month, I need a place to cook and wash my clothes. There are plenty of serviced apartments but the Arcadia is so convenient to everything – it is tucked behind the Swiss Embassy on Wireless Road and the front office has a tuk tuk that will drive you up to Sukhumvit where you can hop off and walk down Soi 1 to Bumrungrad. Or take the BTS to Asok to Terminal 21, one more stop to em Quartier (BKKs newest shopping center) or head the opposite direction towards Mo Chit to Siam Square, MBK and the mother of all shopping centers, Siam Paragon. If you are planning to come into BKK, this is a must try!
